PhD CANDIDATE

e-mail: mariam.hanymohamedanwar@mail.mcgill.ca

I graduated with a bachelor degree in Biology from New York University Abu Dhabi in May 2020. My graduation project at Dr Dipesh Chaudhury's lab focused on the link between circadian rhythms and depression in a mouse model. Throughout my undergraduate degree I became interested in the interaction between genes and the environment.

This motivated me to pursue a doctorate degree in ecological, evolutionary and developmental biology at the Abouheif Lab which I joined in January 2021. My research mainly focuses on the study of insect inhibitory pheromones such as the queen mandibular pheromone in honeybees and the soldier inhibitory pheromone in certain ant species.
